Food

         When eating, mind the following: “The less the better. That means: less salt, less fat, less calories”. Even too salty meal can cause a heart attack, because your pressure rises sharply. Fat food might be even worse than smoking.
To control the amount of fat in your diet, most doctors and the American Association of heart disease suggest the diet in which fats make less than 30% of calories. This means you must reduce consumption of products containing saturated fat as much as possible. Here are some good tips to get started:
- your daily food rate must contain no more than 200 grams of meat, seafood or poultry;
- eat only lean meat, trimming all the fat and trim it before cooking. Beef fat must bear a label which indicates that the fat content in it is not more than 15%;
- remove the skin from poultry before cooking or immediately after it;
- learn how to have a moderate amount of meat, fish or poultry; and use olive oil and lots of vegetables;
- limit your daily intake of all oils to 5-8 teaspoons and drink only monounsaturated or polyunsaturated oils;
- exclude cholesterol-rich by-products, such as liver, kidney or heart;
- eat only 1% contents of fat dairy products; be careful in choosing cheeses! Some cheese with low fat content is very salty.
- increase daily intake of fresh fruits and vegetables and eat more cereals; oat bran are particularly useful, they are proved to reduce cholesterol.
